I never imagined that a roof covered in leaves would unravel my relationship with my parents—or that a condo I thought I owned would turn into a silent war zone of harassment, manipulation, and decay.
Welcome to Villa del Sol—a complex that used to be a quiet little community and is now run like a corporate slumlord operation in an HOA mask.
Let’s start with the roof.
Every other unit in this complex has a clean roof.
Mine? Covered in leaves. Strategically covered. Not by nature—by someone intentionally blowing debris from surrounding rooftops onto mine. This isn’t an accident. It’s targeted.
And then came the lie.
“If the roof caves in, it’ll cost $2 million to fix,” Samuel Dupuy Goza told my father.
“And since your daughter doesn’t have $2 million, you’ll be responsible. Because you used to be on the title.”
Oh—and if it needs to be brought up to code? Then you’ll owe for every roof in the 8-unit block (at $2M/roof = $16M, Dad needed that lie on top of existing stress.) Hell, Elder Abuse begins at the age of 65, chock another one up for Goza.
It’s bullshit. And they know it.
But my dad was 86 at the time, tired, taking care of my mother with dementia, and already under stress.
So he believed them.
And now? We don’t speak anymore—at a time when he needs me most. And, vice versa.
All because of a twisted story designed to shift liability—and break family ties in the process.
Let’s talk about that liability.
Under Civil Code § 4775(a) and the Dover Village v. Jennison ruling, the HOA is responsible for common area maintenance, including, but not limited to, the roofs, unless otherwise stated in the CC&Rs.
Guess what? My CC&Rs are silent on roof maintenance. Well, the CC&Rs "I" was given weren't silent, it was—and continues to be—the number one issue on the "Reserve Books" but the reserves appear to be empty. I digress... The "Rules & Regulations" provided to new "owners" appear to mirror this exact sentiment. Oddly enough, there was no vote on this or any other of the major issues at hand...
That makes this their problem—not mine.
But instead of fixing it, they’ve let the damage escalate.
They’ve tried to intimidate me.
They’ve tried to shame me.
They’ve left me living in conditions no human being should accept.
And I have photos to prove it...
This is what neglect looks like
I’m publishing this to expose what’s happening here because no one should be forced to live like this. Not me, and not you.
This isn’t just about a roof.
It’s about corruption, family betrayal engineered by lies, and a system that allows HOAs to weaponize power against homeowners—especially those they view as disposable.
I’m not disposable. And neither are you.
